Complete Internship Program Management

Total Internship Managers

The Intern Bridge Total Internship Management Model is our unique approach to internships, and the key to making internship programs a complete success. We take the legwork out of the organization, implementation, and coordination that comes with hosting interns. What’s left is a robust internship program capable of contributing valuable resources to recruiting strategies, and the bottom line.

As Total Internship Managers, we implement the following steps on behalf of the employer:

Step 1: Identify Needs – Intern Bridge works with top-level management personnel to determine where interns can be best utilized. Not all positions are appropriate for interns. We harness our expertise to ensure that intern placements provide the most benefit possible for the organization.

Step 2: Job Descriptions – Working with college students is different in almost every way, and creating job descriptions that cater to this “millennial” generation is no different. We take all of the information gathered during the needs analysis phase, and create exciting, clearly targeted job descriptions and information sheets that are then distributed to universities.

Step 3: University Selection – Since every university offers slightly different degree programs and concentrations, Intern Bridge works with organizations to seek out specific universities for various internship positions. We maintain relationships with hundreds of universities, and we are also part of an extensive network of university-level internship supervisors from around the country. New universities are constantly being added to our database of “Partner Schools.”

Step 4: Posting Process – Marketing the internship position to universities is a necessary, yet time consuming component of an internship program. Most colleges have a specific routine that must be followed in order to post an available internship position to their students. Many of these colleges also have strict guidelines and requirements that must be met. Intern Bridge takes care of all of the legwork involved with posting the positions to universities. We also tap into our extensive network of student club leaders and professors to single-out outstanding candidates.

Step 5: Initial Screening – An organization can easily receive more than 100 resumes and cover letters in only a few days time. If a position is especially attractive to students, and several schools are targeted, it is not unfeasible to receive several hundred applications. We take care of screening the applicants through resume and cover letter review standards.

Step 6: Interviewing – After passing candidates through an initial screening, Intern Bridge interviews a list of top candidates and delivers a predetermined number of highly qualified candidates to the organization for final selection. Intern Bridge maintains the scheduling aspect of this process to reduce the amount of time organizations spend on coordination.

Step 7: Selection Process – Intern Bridge acts as the main contact between the organization, universities, and student applicants. We have the ability to generate offer letters for students selected to participate in an internship, and we also provide “thank you for applying” notes to candidates that are not offered positions. Lastly, we notify the respective universities that a student from their institution has been selected and we complete any required paperwork.

Step 8: Orientation – The orientation process is a critical component to any successful internship program. This includes a brief orientation for employees of an organization as well as a detailed orientation for the students. Intern Bridge works with host organizations to ensure that the orientation program provides for a comfortable atmosphere for the student, leading to increased productivity.

Step 9: Payroll – Students are entered on the Intern Bridge payroll. In this respect, the students are considered Intern Bridge employees, freeing up even more time, obligation, and liability for the organization. We handle hour tracking, withholding taxes, unemployment insurance payments, immigration and regulatory compliance, workers compensation, and more.

Step 10: Evaluation and Feedback – Intern Bridge completes the internship evaluation process. We maintain constant communication with the supervisor at the host site and the university. This allows us to provide feedback to the student at mid-term and at the end of the program; and we provide this information, as required, to universities. We also provide for evaluation of the internship program from the students perspective so the organization can improve upon their program.
